Thank goodness I convinced them!

Greetings everyone! This is Diva Dog. I've usurped the computer while Mama Curmudgeon is teaching and Momma Wing Nut is grocery shopping.

Spring, or almost spring, is a difficult time for me. You see, my mamas love to work outside in the gardens any time there is a warm and sunny day, which means fewer trips to the off-leash parks for me. They mumble something about "only so many hours in the day," and usually the garden wins out over me. So then I feel a bit neglected and under-exercised. But yesterday I whined and moaned, I mean managed to convince them to spend some time with me and go to the dog park!  I'm glad I did, too, because today is cool, gray and rainy.

Momma Wing Nut drove us all the way over to Marymoor Park where we all had a nice long walk through the grassy areas along the creek.

P1010360

I searched for squirrels and bunnies in the wooded areas.

P1010335

I even dipped my toes in the water a bit. But I'm not really a swimmer or retriever, you know.

P1010356

I'm a shepherd and guardian, used to patrolling the meadows and making sure the fences are secure.

P1010332

I stopped chasing my ball for a few minutes to enjoy the warm glow of sunshine upon my fur. My mamas "oohed" and "aaahed" over my beauty and took these lovely photos. I indulged them a bit -- they are so easily entertained.

After playing for an hour or so, we headed home.  I was tired but happy!

After lunch, my mommas then went out to the garden and spent the entire afternoon outside. I, of course, wanted to be with them, so I joined them outside. I don't understand what a pea trellis is, but Momma Wing Nut tried to build one while I tried to take a nap on the patio.

P1010005

They also put up a teepee for some other peas and put down some burlap bags that a fellow gardener graciously shared with them. Here's a photo of the garden yesterday afternoon. I think the other photos on this post are much more interesting, but anyway...

Sigh... They really are gardening fanatics, but I love them dearly.

Hi Diva Dog, my two shepherds would agree with you entirely. They have to wait patiently to play while I work in the garden. They don't get it either.

Hi Diva Dog!
Our 'momma' needs a gardening day - she's been working far too hard in the studio. We'll get her out there tomorrow.

Dear Diva Dog,
Once upon a time I used to take the late and much lamented Mollydog to Marymoor Park. Thanks for the memories!

Dear Diva Dog, My compliments to you for being so patient with your people. You are such a lovely Diva, thank you for gracing the pages of this blog with your lovely photos.

Poor Diva Dog. It is wonderful that you are so tolerant of your mommas' hobbies. My cats get quite impatient with me when they don't have as much time to luxuriate in my plump lap during warmer weather. At least you enjoy spending time outside with them.

Dear Diva Dog,

Abby, Internet Police Dog here, How do you get your Moms to take you to this off leash park? My Mom has not taken me to a park in a long time. Maybe you will inspire her. I don't understand the plant and dirt thing either. I mean, come on, she could be petting me. I must go check to make sure there isn't someone trying to steal her out of the living room. You know how it is, duty calls.

Yours,

Abby

Hi DD - At least got the order right today: play with you first, then garden. Don't tip over the pea teepee! We have one that looks just like it, but it's not up yet... tell your mommas they done good.

Diva, Diva, Diva

I am so glad your mommas took you for a romp at Marymoor--and let you commandeer the keyboard afterward. Such a life you have, even if I could see why that pea teepee might seem odd. Well it looks lovely to me, but then I bet I like peas better than you do.

I have been meaning actually to invite you you and your mommas for a romp at one of the dog parks near my place and some kind of dining after. Well, we might have to pick something besides the nearest dog park. It gets to be kind of a mud pit. There are some real mud dogs who go there, and have a really good time but are not the least bit dignified. If that's not your thing there are definitely other options.

I cannot even think about it for a couple weeks though. Full schedule is a good problem to have actually but invites have to wait.

Pssst. DD, One more thing. I know you can get from your house to Marymoor on Da Bus but it probably takes 3 buses. I'm pretty sure your mommas didn't just pack you into that new set of wheels they told everyone about during the Snowpocalypse. Could you maybe see if they are ready to spill the beans about how you did get to the park????

Sweet Diva Dog,

First of all, I love your name! I can tell that it suits you perfectly. I once had a shepherd who everyone said would have been considered a saint if she were a person. I can see that you have those same wonderful traits.

Glad that you had a fun outing!

Cheers,
Cameron

Hi Diva Dog! You are so beautiful, I'm glad Wing Nut and Curmudgeon captured you on film for all of us to enjoy! I especially loved the picutre of you snoozing on the patio, since I can relate. Napping, snacking, visiting with anyoen and everyone, and wandering around the property (especially visiting the chickens and outdoor cats) are my very favorite things to do! Your friend, Molly

And do you guard against the trolls, dear Diva Dog? What a pretty beauty you are, and so good to the Wenches, too.

Diva Dog should get together with our poor pooches. They're competing with the garden AND the little guy. Our poor babies. Looks like she had fun though. Good for all of you!

Diva Dog is lucky to have such nice people as Curmudgeon and Wingnut to act as chauffeurs! My garden club is called the Divas of the Dirt and at the moment we have a total of nine dogs as assistant gardeners. Why did we never think to name any of them Diva Dog? Well, a lot of them are males, so guess they'd be Divus Dogs?

I love the pea teepee!

I'm sure it was the sad, pleading eye trick that convinced them, Diva Dog. I'm glad you indulged them with a few photo ops. Nicely done :)
A little fun, and a little work accomplished....and everyone's happy!
Well done! :)

Hello Diva Dog! Very pleased to meet you. I had a wonderful Assistant Gardener Dog many years ago. I used to take her round all my new plantings, especially the herbs. She'd sniff the leaves and wag her tail if she approved. Her favourite was sage.

What a cute little doggie story. I love dogs and have a sweet little one of my own. German Sheperds are great dogs. Had a few of my own years back. Very loyal.

Hello everyone!
Wow! I never expected to receive so much fan mail. I'm a bit overwhelmed!

First of all, thank you for the kind comments and compliments. I am a very fortunate lady; I was adopted from German Shepherd Rescue by Curmudgeon and Wing Nut when I was 6 years old. I'm now 10 years old, but seem to be aging well due to their good care and love. I'm moving a little slower, but I still have my looks!

Curmudgeon and Wing Nut really do spoil me, (but I'm worth it) so I really shouldn't complain too much. I get to ride in the (new to us) car, sleep on the sofa, and cuddle on the bed. Plus they feed me yummy food and treats. It's a good life.

To all my new 4-legged friends out there -- your secrets are safe with me. One of my best buddies is a cat, but don't let that get around. And even though we don't understand the dirt thing, digging around seems to make humans happy. My humans get very excited about eating things from their big dirt box. I just wish I knew why they were upset with me when I buried my pig ear in it. I was just doing what they were doing -- planting one and hoping for more!

Sniffs and wags,
Diva Dog

Hi Diva Dog -- any time you'd like to teach Schnoodle about defending your territory, you're more than welcome. He seems (at the ripe old age of 11 or 12) not to know quite what to do with squirrels or cats! I hope your moms know how lucky they are to have you protecting the garden!
