A tale of two patients

Snuggle Bug is now on antibiotics because she has a bladder infection. When Snuggle Bug is not feeling well she vocalizes A LOT. And she sleeps in odd places. Like the fruit bowl.

Wing Nut is now ALSO on antibiotics because Snuggle Bug bit her. It wasn't really a bite though. We were trying to give SB her antibiotics and Wing Nut's finger got in the way. It was a teeny tiny prick on her finger. But we figured better safe than sorry. So, off to the doctor she went.

P1010476

Snuggle Bug gets meds that taste and smell like bananas. She gets to sleep in the fruit bowl under warm lights. And she gets to eat as much canned food as she wants.

Wing Nut gets meds that are the size of horse pills and taste chalky. PLUS she had to get a booster to her tetanus shot. Ouch. She's NOT allowed to eat all the chocolate zucchini cake. And she can't sleep in the fruit bowl. Life is so not fair sometimes!

Poor Wing Nut. We should all wish to be reincarnated as a house cat.

Poor Snuggle Bug.

Poor Wing Nut

Does Wing Nut get to vocalize at least? Snuggle Bug can really give lessons!

How did you figure out about the vocalizing as symptom? Snuggle Bug was certainly more than her usual loud self last week when I was over and I am sorry to hear it means she was sick.

So true Aunt Debbi! Hey, the dog doesn't have it too bad either around here ;-)

I agree Karen! She's so cute in that bowl that we don't have the heart to move her.

Wing Nut is not vocalizing too much RantWoman. The booster is giving her flu-like symptoms so she's sleeping a lot. Snuggle Bug spent an entire night vocalizing. We got very little sleep. That's when we figured out something was seriously wrong. SB takes her sleep very seriously. After the sleepless night we saw her repeatedly trying to use the litter box--5 times in less than 5 minutes. And there was nothing in the box when we checked. We were worried it might be a blockage of some sort. So something that can be treated with meds was a relief.

Aaaahhhh, the horrors, the horrors!!! Hope Wing Nut AND Snuggle Bug are well and feeling wonderful soon!!!!

Snuggle Buggle looks cute in the bowl.
No signs of guilt either, despite the injured digit being displayed nearby!

I'll pass on your warm thoughts to the patients OFB--when they both wake up from their morning naps!

SB is a very sweet tempered kitty, easygardener. But kitty teeth are sharp! She's been feeling so lousy she hasn't even wanted to snuggle.

Sympathy wishes from me to all of the patients (and caregivers) in your household. Ouch! None of it sounds very fun. Fruit bowl shot is priceless, though. :)

The fun continues at our house, Karen. It seems everytime we have to give SB her meds one of us ends up wearing half of it. I'm tired of smelling like bananas! It's a good thing she is so darn cute.

Is Snuggle Bug getting pills or liquid? An eye droper to plant the stuff as far back in mouth as possible might help.

Or are these just powerfully fragrant pills?

I hope you are both much better soon! -- MK

Her meds are in liquid form RantWoman. We use a syringe, which works wells. But SB is very squirmy. I'm not sure how but several times I've ended up with banana goop in my hair. Yuck!

Thanks MK! BOTH patients are recuperating nicely--thanks to a strict routine of fluids, naps and vanilla ice cream.

If you have to have bugs in your fruitbowl, a Snugglebug is way better than fruitflies, I'd think. Hope you both get better soon!

Curmudgeon said...

Absolutely JGH! I just don't have the heart to move the cute little bug out of the fruit bowl. But I'm very happy that we don't have fruit flies! Thanks for stopping by and leaving us a comment.

Wenches .. I almost spit my tea out on my lap top , trying to swallow and laugh at the same time .. I'd advise you guys NOT to try that .. it hurts ! LOL
I'm so sorry for Snugglebug .. but what a character sleeping in the fruit bowl ! .. Poor Wingnut .. I went through the exact same thing a couple of years ago .. so I know how you feel girl.
Hope you all recover soon and the fruit bowl gets to have fruit in it again ? LOL

Sorry about the tea spitting GardenJoy! LOL! SB is feeling better--but continues to nap in the fruit bowl while the fruit from this weekend's shopping is sitting on the couunter. And WN is feeling better too. She spent the weekend on the couch napping. But between naps she planned out our veggie garden for this year! That girl knows how to multi-task!

Glad everyone is feeling better!

Thanks Gardeness. Yes, everyone is feeling much better.

I do believe I'd want to snuggle in a fruit bowl, too!

Curmudgeon said...

That bowl was downright cozy, Susan, When SB finally left her napping spot, I found the Christmas hot-pad and oven mitt. They'd been providing padding at the bottom of the bowl!

Cats find some funny places to get comfortable in. I have three. Horace, sleeps on top of the fridge. Harold, sleeps on top of the satellite tv box (not good) and Hector, sleeps under the duvet (smarter).

Funny makes for better blog fodder, Inadvertentfarmer!

Linda Lunda, poor Wing Nut has a hard time taking a nap around here--the cats get the bed and the dog gets the livingroom futon.

Greetings Rob. One of ours likes to sleep under the duvet--though she's been aquashed a few times and now tends to sleep on top of the duvet! The little black one usually sleeps on a velvet pillow on top of the duvet. No, no, our critters aren't spoiled. HA!

So cute. I thought immediately of a big orange fluff cat I had once named Honeypot who used to sleep a large nut bowl I had on the coffee table.Everyone found it so charming. (And the nuts were still in their shells.)

So sorry kitty is sick and worse w/ the bite.Ouch. Hope all are on the mend soon!

Curmudgeon said...

Hi Kathryn! Maybe Honeypot was trying to stimulate his pressure points by sleeping atop the nuts! Once I retrieved the Christmas hot pads from the bottom of the fruit bowl it became less desireable as a napping spot!

Hey...ummm...Curmudgeon?? Is that your online name? Eeek, sorry I forgot! This is your co-worker, formerly known as Looky Loo? I hope all is well with you at the nursery, and that your kitties (and the dog, of course) are all doing okay. I also wanted to inform you of my next big adventure, and of the new blog I created for it! Check out http://schoolingglobalgirl.blogspot.com .

Hopefully I'll see you at work soon. I really need to earn some serious moolah before I leave! :D

Curmudgeon said...

Hi Looky Loo! This is Curmudgeon. I think you want Wing Nut--she's too sweet to be a curmudgeon ;-) Sounds like you are heading off on a grand adventure. And we'll definitely be following along via your blog!

the worst part of all is not getting to eat the chocolate zucchini cake. That sounds positively brutal. ;-) Get well soon girls.

Poor SnuggleBug. RantWoman admits she does not really like anything banana-flavored except bananas and banana-bread. RantWoman does not promise anyone who tried to give me banana-flaovred medicine would wind up with it in their hair, but there is a good chance..

As for places to sleep, Ms Fuzzface wwent through a series of computer monitors with me. She really dug the big long CRT's becauce there was plenty of room for a kitty to sleep on top. Then Horrible Human got a flat-screen monitor and had to do all kinds of things to keep Ms. FF from sleeping right on top of the cpu. MOstly I finally just let her sleep right in front of the vent from the fan.

It's twelve days later, WWWenches - sure hope Snugglebug and all of you are well again.

Some Austin flu bug has been going around too, and it decided to land at our house. Philo won't fit in the fruit bowl, and after reading your post, I will not try to give him any medicine.

Less than 10 days until your big blogger party!

That fruit bowl looks a most snug place for a kip. I didn't know that cats were partial to chocolate and zucchini cake :)

Wing Nut not being able to sleep in the fruit bowl seems the saddest note of all.
