Hey - I'd like to add a few comments too.
Yes, the new wheels are very helpful. I no longer suffer back strain carrying a backpack full of a month's worth of canned food for 3 critters or a gallon of milk and assorted weekly groceries.
However, during the recent Snowpocalypse, we discovered these new wheels lack the following:
- traction control
- brakes (anti-locking or otherwise)
- power steering
- a strong engine (unless the wench is well fueled, I mean fed)
Sigh... Maybe I'll get another car someday...

Woot, woot!!
Fabulous! I love it! You are saving the planet and we all appreciate it. What a wonderful way to ring in the New Year.
I wish you joy (which you guys seem to create in great quantities) and much happy gardening in 2009.
Cool wheels! I'm new to your blog but just wanted to drop in to wish you a very happy New Year from Australia.
Neat solution. Perhaps the wheels could be temporarily replaced with little skis for the duration of the snow :-)
Hey, nothin's perfect, but she's a beauty, Mate...as the Aussie's say :)
Happy shopping in 2009, girls!
Wishing you much joy, good health and many blessings for the New Year.
Merci bien pour votre commentaire dans mon blog and pour la compagnie.
You had me in stitches with that story. I loved the suspense and the final punchline was great.
Happy New Year! May 2009 bring you health and prosperity!
Greetings from London.
Heh heh! Go, you all!
Obviously your animals aren't pulling their weight. Maybe sled dogs would be better for winter? They could pull you and your groceries home.
Wow, very sporty! But be sure to watch your speed -- remember that the police are extra vigilant over the holidays, and you don't want to end up with a ticket...
AWESOME!!!!
Definitely scores big points on the GREEN scoreboard. Happy NEW year.
HA!!! I also loved the buildup and suspense. By the end, I was prepared for anything from a solar-powered golf cart to an Amish buggy! But I agree that adding skis and hooking up Diva Dog seem like reasonable upgrades---we're constantly threatening our Molly with a red wagon!
Thanks Chuck!
Same to you Jean!
It's quite an adventure Aunt Debbi!
Welcome FoxyMoron! Happy New Year to you. Thanks for stopping by, all the way from Australia!
What a great idea easygardener! I like how you think ;-)
Thanks Kerri! And warmest wishes for 2009 to you too!
Muchisimas gracias Cuban! Igualmente, te deseo muchas cosas buenas para el 2009.
Thanks for the encouragement J!
Diva Dog loves the grocery cart, Daphne. She's learned that when it comes out she gets to go on an adventure with us. One of us exercises her while the other one shops. We're looking into getting her a saddlebag so she can help out. One of our cats earns her keep by being a neck warmer. Not sure what we can attribute to the other one though.
We'll be careful Val! But it's not easy keeping our speed down--she's got great pick-up, especially when we're going down these steep hills!
Happy New Year to you too, Andrea!
Thanks OFB. I like the solar golf cart idea. We've seen a few Segways around here. But no Amish buggies!
Wow! Impressive, I've always fancied one of those for my shopping trips to save my back but sadly they don't make the handles long enough (I'm tall) and I've not been able to find one :-(
I know just what you mean Libby! We had to really shop around to find a cart tall enough for me. Most were way too short.
Ah luvs yer wheelz!
This week, instead of skis, you may be needing pontoons. Hope you don't wind up with water anywhere you don't want it to be.
(Folks, this is serious: the wenches live on the lower level of a duplex in the middle of a downslope. After three weeks or so of Snowpocalypse, now Seattle is in the middle of the kind of deluge that can flood anything that ever even thought of being a basement! So send them thoughts of plant recovery and dryness indoors)
And another thing, re wheelz with handles for tall people, I have been tempted by a wheeled tool bag I saw at Lowes. (Strong enough for a man but handles great for a woman, or something like that.)
I am taller than curmudgeon and handle is plenty long enough but total volume is less than your current version. If I succumb to temptation, I will try hanging bags off the handle somehow for extra freight capacity. But if anyone knows of models with taller or adjustable handles, i too am all ears.
Amazingly, RantWoman, we've managed to stay dry. We had more issues last year than we've had this year with water where we don't want it. I actually googled "ark building" and got more hits than I'd expected! The news is petty frightening--all 3 passes over the Cascades closed due to avalanche danger, routes north and south closed due to flooding and mudslides. Yikes!
The cart is working out beautifully, RantWoman. Its capacity is more than adequate. Have found that some busdrivers are less than obliging when we ask for the lift to get the cart down off the bus.
