Sitting here with my mouth open in awe. That is the prettiest tree combination I have ever seen.

The contrast between the leaf shapes and colours is stunning!

That gingko is beautiful! Even more so by the Japanese maple.

Wow, those certainly play off against each other. The super saturated red of the maple emphasizes the golden little fans.

Hi Wenches, oh my gosh, what a fantastic combination! Do you know the cultivar name of the maple? It is exquisite.

I agree Aunt Debbi. It stopped me in my tracks. I love ginkos anyway but against the red it is stunning.

Hi kd! I agree. I love the fine texture of the maple leaves against the chunkier fan shaped ginko ones.

Funny thing is Tina that I would never have gotten this shot if it hadn't been for Diva Dog. We usually aproach this pair of trees from one direction only--and the contrast isn't evident from that direction. After we'd walked by the trees Diva Dog spotted a squirrel and spun me around in pursuit. Spinning around in quest of squirrel made me see the trees from the opposite direction. And What a contrast it is!

Greetings Northern Shade! I lucked out that the maple is a dwarf variety and the ginko is a baby--its bottom branches hang just above the maple.

Hi Nancy! Depending on the time of day it almost hurts to look at the red of the maple, It's so intense.

Thanks Karen! We've had a dry Oct. and the fall colors are spectacular this year.

Greetings Frances! Unfortunately we do not know the cultivar. It is located just a few blocks from us but these neighbors live behind a very high fence and we never see them gardening--but they have interesting trees planted along their parking strip. Besides the maple and ginko they also have hazlenut trees. I am constantly awed by these.

Yeah for the Diva Dog! Love the name.

So nice! I think we have the same maple - is yours the mounded shrubby kind? I love this time of year for them, and the gingko just plays off it so beautifully!

Thank you easygardener!

Tina, Diva Dog is our almost 10 yr. old GSD. She's quite the squirrel hunter.

Hi Karen. Yes, it is a mounded shrubby variety. It totally disappears in winter. In spring and summer it's not particularly stunning. But right now it's definitely gorgeous.

You are most welcome Andrea.

So that's the way a gingko is supposed to look like! Pardon my ignorance but which one is which? I have it for my tea every evening. I recommend it highly. A bit strong but I like strong beverages.

Merci bien pour la visite a mon blog.

Saludos desde Londres.

Stunning Colours, lucky you!

¡Saludos al Cubano en Londres! El ginkgo tiene las ojas amarillas en forma de abanico. El acer japonés tiene las hojas rojas. Muchas gracias por la visita.

Your color is not shabby at all. I love the contrast between the ginkgo and the maple. That's a beautiful photo.

Greetings LB. Yes, the colors have been a treat this year--dry Oct. has kept the leaves on the trees longer.

Thanks SL. But nothing beats Fall in New England! Here we lack the brilliant reds and yellows in quantity that you find in NE. We tend more to the golds, oranges and browns.
