Too smitten to notice

P1010129

I have been so smitten with the freesia that i have barely noticed its neighbor, the honeywort.

Sigh... I'm still pinching myself that you're growing freesias--one of my three all-time favorite flowers, and all, of course, because of the smell--outdoors like a "normal" flower! If I want to grow them, I have to resort to the greenhouse. Lucky, lucky you! But no, I hadn't heard of its neighbor, either, and it's a lovely one, too. Is it fragrant also?

Oh we're still pinching ourselves too OFB. Everything I read about freesia made them sound so fussy. We don't do well with fussy plants--or people for that matter. No, the honeywort is not fragrant, that I'm aware of, but it's interesting looking enough to make up for tt. And it's supposed to attract bees and hummingbirds. So what are your other 2 all-time-faves OFB???

I love those flowers! You captured them beautifully. Glad to see you are harvesting some veggies, too. That stern look of Diva Dog will certainly deter any critter...

I'm a fragrance addict, so I love a pretty broad spectrum of flower and foliage fragrances, from classic bearded iris and heritage roses to chrysanthemums and even marigolds. But if I could only have three for fragrance, they'd be freesias, peonies, and nasturtiums. (But don't start me on herbs, please--you'd never hear the end of me...)

Hi Katarina! Thanks for stopping by. I just popped over to see what's up at your blog earlier today--it's been a while since I visited my favorite blogs around the world!

Hi Nicole! Oh the contortions I had to go through to get those pics! My neighbors were probably laughing hysterically at the crazy woman with the camera rolling around on the concrete patio. Yes, Diva Dog is a great guard dog--the UPS delivery man just drops and runs--"No signature needed, Mam!"

Yes, peonies are on my list too OFB. Love the nasturtiums but am most frustrated at the aphid infestation that seems to come with. Gardenias would make my list of all time faves for fragrance. Have never tried growing these but talk about a fussy plant!

I adore cerinthe - I plant seeds every year - and never pull up the self sown seedlings. Wonderful shot.

I'd never seen or heard of honeywort. I love the color! These are great shots. And I'm jealous of the freesia.
