What does a wench drink after a long day of shopping at the mall?

I'd rather undergo a root canal than go shopping at the mall. I go about once a year, kicking and screaming--I'm trying to get it down to a biennial trip. Yesterday the trip was precipitated by the need for summer skirts and sandals. And okay, it was only three hours at the mall, but it felt much longer. Wing Nut used the "it's too hot to garden this afternoon" ruse and I fell for it. Must wise up to that one.

In the year or so since last I was at the mall good taste has definitely become a thing of some bygone era. The colors and patterns were enough to make a legally-blind woman (ME) keep her sunglasses on for fear of having my retinas permanently scorched. And how they put so much synthetic material in one outfit is beyond me. Eeewww!

One skirt and no sandals later, I managed to flee back to the peace and relative quiet of our garden and some serious dirt therapy. After a scrumptious dinner of smoked chicken with grilled veggies I figured it was time to hit the bottle. What does a wench drink after a long day of shopping at the mall?

This new brew was released April 24th, 2008 by Bridgeport, Oregon's oldest craft brewery. The Tart is a Belgian ale blended with fresh Oregon marion berries and aged in French oak casks. Bold and extreme--perfect for summer.

I'm totally with ya! I HATE malls!! Keep in mind that I am a TOTAL clothes horse and LOVE buying new clothes... malls, however, are NOT where you will EVER find me. I have a couple of trips a year to downtown Seattle with Jason and the Shibaboyz to Macy's and Nordstrom where I buy some new "stuff" and then run back to our West Seattle home. Jason is very good at sewing but he just can't seem to bring himself to work on more formal business attire for my "day job." Guess I, like you, are stuck with retail establishments from time to time.

What does a Shibaguy drink after a day of retail? Well, usually DURING the event I jump into one of the local establishments and have a glass of red wine or, better, a martini to get me through the mess. The whole thing is followed up with a glass of wine sitting in the garden. Gonna try out your Bridgeport recommendation soon though.

talk to you soon...

Gack! My sympathies. I think it's been ten years since I went to a mall, but no doubt, my day is also coming. My beloved sandals aren't getting any younger. (I actually saw an identical pair in a small shoe store in the Poconos recently, screeched over, and rushed in, only to find that they no longer made them in red-brown, and they now cost $100! Please, sandals, live a little longer...) Thank God for thrift stores and online shopping! Sounds like dinner was a great consolation, though, and of course, who wouldn't love that label?!

Curmudgeon my dear, I feel your pain but never fear help is at hand. Two words: mail order! That way you can browse at leisure while your sitting in your garden drinking your favourite tipple. See, it's easy and you can avoid shopping malls like the proverbial plague from now on.

I agree, malls are evil. The brew sounds good.

LOL! I agree. Although we did take a recent trip to MOA, we spent most of the day at the park or underwater world. We ventured through the aisles to get to a couple of our favorite stores and ended up buying Peanut a stuffed animal. (Like she needs more of those!) We were VERY glad to get out of the madness though.

I hate shopping. Yolanda knows the cure. We are on a first-name basis with our UPS driver.
